“STREET ANGEL” @ Edison Street Events
Nov 7 @ 7:30 pm
Thursday and Friday ,November 7th & 8th at 7:30 pm. Don’t miss Janet Gaynor Academy Award Winner for “Best Actress” and Charles Ferrell in a Great Love Story “STREET ANGEL”.   BLAINE GALE provides a wonderful live score on the mighty Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ.

Frank Borzage Two time Academy Award winning director Frank Borzage was born in
Salt Lake City and began as an actor in silent movies before moving behind the camera
to become the very first director to be given an Oscar for his 1927 “7TH HEAVEN” which
teamed JANET GAYNOR and CHARLES FARRELL together for the first time. In 1928
the same three teamed up for “STREET ANGEL which we are honored to present on
Thursday and Friday, November 7 & 8th with BLAINE GALE providing a romantic setting
on the WURLITZLER THEATRE PIPE ORGAN.
Frank Borzage’s Street Angel was one of three films that earned Janet Gaynor the
very first Best Actress Oscar. Gaynor stars as Angela, a poor waif who steals medicine
for her sick mother and hides out from the law by joining a traveling carnival. A painter
(Charles Farrell) becomes smitten by her and does her portrait as the Madonna. Borzage
directs this ultimate potent and moving love story with great skill. The cinematography
of Street Angel ranks as some of most beautiful and artistic ever captured on film.

Street Angel is a universal tale of “human souls made great by love and adversity”—
Exactly the subject matter which earned Borzage his reputation as a poet of the
Working class.
If you care for great love stories beautifully told, then this is a rare opportunity to see
one one the greatest of all-time. 1928 was a magnificent year for the art of the silent
film and STREET ANGEL ranks as one of the most artistic films that we have ever
had the pleasure to offer.
