May 17th & 18th at 7:30 pm. It’s Harold LLyod in his hilarious comedy “SPEEDY” with Blaine Gale doing his magic on the keyboards!
HAROLD LLOYD’S “SPEEDY” brings laughter & thrills to Edison St / The Organ Loft on
Thurs. & Friday MAY 17 & 18th BLAINE GALE at the Mighty Wurlitzer
HAROLD LLOYD’S final silent feature roars into the Organ Loft
bringing laughter and thrills. “SPEEDY” (1928) is a film with
seemingly endless energy. It literally never slows down. Almost
immediately after Lloyd appears in front of the camera the
film switches into hyper-drive mode and stays that way until the
final hair-raising final. The film was largely shot in New York &
features Babe Ruth – one of baseballs greats – in a hilarious cameo
role. “SPEEDY” is a tremendous comedy. Some of the stunts in it are
truly extraordinary. So fasten your seat belts and prepare to have a
grand time as BLAINE GALE tickles the keyboard of the Mighty Wurlitzer
Pipe Organ and HAROLD LLOYD lights up the screen.

VALENTINO CLASSIC “THE EAGLE” MAY 31 & JUNE 1 TO CLOSE SPRING
SEASON AT EDISON ST/THE ORGAN LOFT WITH BLAINE GALE AT THE
MIGHTY WURLITZER PIPE ORGAN Author Steven Schneider in his book, 1001 Movies
You Must See Before You Die picks Rudolph Valentino’s 1925 classic THE EAGLE as one
of those films to see. He was the original Latin Lover, a term that was invented
for RUDLOPH VALENTINO. The Great Lover, The Latin Lover, Rudy, Rudi . . .
“Woman are not in love with me but with the picture of me on the screen. I am merely the
canvas upon which women paint their dreams. –Valentino
THE EAGLE was one of two films in which he was teamed with the beautiful VILMA BANKY.
And they made a marvelous team. For those of you who are quick at picking
faces you might be able to spot Gary Cooper and Salt Lake’s own Mack Swain.
This along with The Son of the Sheik, which closed our season last year, are my pick for the
two best Valentino films. Brilliantly directed by the great Clarence Brown.
And organist BLAINE GALE will be at the Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Pipe Organ to set the
mood for this exciting & romantic adventure. Hope that you will join us.
